About AICC

The African Institute of Corporate Citizenship (AICC) is an NGO that promotes sustainable business practice in Africa. Established in 2001, AICC aims to facilitate the competitiveness of countries, companies, and communities through responsible business activity.

Vision

Our vision is to be a centre of excellence in corporate citizenship in Africa, promoting the role of business in building sustainable communities.

Mission

To facilitate, promote, support, and work in partnership with a range of development stakeholders in order to influence the underlying values of corporate citizenship and sustainable business practice.

Core Activities

AICC’s portfolio contains a wide range of activities and services. We convene a number of multi-stakeholder project networks spanning many countries in Africa. AICC is a key player in a range of international corporate citizenship initiatives, providing an African perspective to emerging global standards of best-practice. AICC also offers advisory services to public and private sector businesses on a range of sustainability issues. Through these and other processes, AICC strives to be an agent of progressive change in advancing the corporate citizenship agenda.

  • Promoting a sustainable workplace
  • Influencing the global corporate social responsibility architecture

 

Announcements

National Human Rights and Business Conference 2008

In partnership with the South African Human Rights Commission and the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, AICC is hosting the National Human Rights and Business Conference 2008 – “Business, Development, and Poverty”.

AICC welcomes our new CEO

AICC is pleased to announce the appointment of our new CEO, Michelle Ntab Ndiaye. Originally from Senegal, Michelle has an extensive background in development work, consulting, and project management.

AICC has launched an interactive online portal showcasing articles, discussion forums, and information pertaining to growth, poverty reduction, and corporate social responsibility in Africa.

The purpose of the website is to facilitate interaction amongst development stakeholders in Africa, and to provide a forum for discussion and debate.

ReportCom

As part of our ReportCom series, AICC hosted a workshop in Cape Town entitled “Accounting for Carbon Footprints.”

The event was held on the 26th of February 2008 at Ernst and Young, 32 Lower Long Street, Cape Town, and generated discussion regarding how companies may best report on and account for their carbon footprints.
