AICC Partnerships

AICC is proud of its extensive network of partnerships. AICC is constantly on the lookout for new potential partners within different fields, because partnerships ensure quality and the right mix of competencies. The AICC partners are recognised as leaders within their specific field of business.

AICC is currently forcussing on consolidating its network of partnerships:

UNISA Centre for Corporate Citizenship: (UNISA CCC): The UNISA CCC was set up in September 2002 as a partnership between UNISA (University of South Africa) and AICC. UNISA is recognised as a world leader in providing distance learning and already has a comprehensive network throughout Africa. UNISA CCC has established a six month certificate programme in corporate citizenship to supplement its course in Integrated Sustainability Accounting, Assurance and Reporting, which is sponsored by the SABC. UNISA CCC is an implementation partner for the UN Global Compact.

UN Global Compact: AICC supports the UN Global Compact in Southern Africa. On 24 April 2003, the UN Global Compact was launched at UNISA, Pretoria, South Africa. At the invitation of the Universities of Cape Town, Stellenbosch Business School, AICC and the United Nations Information Centre Pretoria, approximately 200 representatives of South African companies and South African subsidiaries of multinational firms attended. AICC has helped to launch the UN Global Compact in Malawi

ACCA South Africa: AICC formed a partnership with ACCA (Association of Certified and Chartered Accountants) South Africa in 2003 around the ReportCom Knowledge Exchange (see more information under the ReportCom programme area). ACCA South Africa launched the ACCA South Africa Sustainability Awards, endorsed by the AICC, in October 2003 with the aim of improving the number and quality of non-financial sustainability reports in South Africa. This aim is parallel to the aim of the ReportCom Knowledge Exchange but with a different approach. The partnership will continue in 2006 with AICC and ACCA South Africa providing mutual awareness and support for the two initiatives.

Trialogue: Trialogue is an independent consultancy focusing on corporate social investment and corporate citizenship. Together with Trialogue, AICC has developed a toolkit for auditing and benchmarking the state of corporate citizenship management across the organisation integrating practices, methods, and the extent to which it is integrated across the organisation and embedded within it. The approach is known as Corporate Citizenship Management Rating and has already been applied to a number of organisations. AICC and Trialogue has also produced The Sustainable Business Handbook. AccountAbility: AccountAbility is a leading UK-based international NGO focusing on promoting accountability for sustainable development. AICC has several different partnerships with AccountAbility:

Conversations with disbelievers is a web-based conversation that envisages encouraging managers, nonprofits and researchers to contribute their material to the growing dialogue on the business case for corporate citizenship.
Responsible Competitiveness Index aims to produce an international index measuring the level of responsible competitiveness in different countries and regions.
Responsible Competitiveness Consortium (RCC) is an international consortium of policy-aligned research organisations and business networks set up to explore and promote how best to align ‘corporate responsibility’ practices to the competitiveness of nations and communities in order to increase the impacts of such practices on sustainable development. The consortium includes an international group of organisations with cross-cutting expertise in public policy, competitiveness and corporate responsibility, including (apart from AICC) Institute Ethos and Fundaco Don Cabral (Brazil), ProHumana (Chile), The Copenhagen Centre (Denmark), the Centre for Social Markets (India), Business in the Community, and AccountAbility (UK).

BEN-Africa: BEN-Africa strengthens the commitment and competence of Africans to do business with moral integrity by facilitating interaction between academics and practitioners who share an interest in business ethics The Story of BEN-Africa The Business Ethics Network of Africa (BEN-Africa) was formed on the Equator in the heart of Africa in 1999. The founding conviction of BEN-Africa is that by bringing together Africans who share an interest in business ethics, business ethics will be expanded on the African continent.
