Programme Staff


Paul Kapelus
Director

Paul is a founding Director of the African Institute of Corporate Citizenship . He has worked in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility in Africa for the past 13 years as a researcher, consultant, facilitator and as an employee on a platinum mine. He has a Masters Degree in Social Anthropology from Sussex University (UK) where he specialised on multinational mining companies and corporate social responsibility. Paul is a member of the Global Reporting Initiative Stakeholder Council and is on the AccountAbility (AA1000) Council. He has written extensively on the subject of corporate – community relations and participated in conferences and projects around the world with the aim of ensuring an African perspective on corporate responsibility is considered in both policy and practice.

Sean de Cleene
Director

Sean is a founding director of AICC. Sean's main work is in the area of responsible competitiveness as well as the strategy implications and design for companies looking to mainstream corporate citizenship in line with core business practice. In this capacity he has undertaken strategy reviews for a variety of companies and given a number of executive briefings to company boards and senior management teams. Sean is also Director of the UK based  Centre for Advancement of Sustainable Development Partnerships. He has also been elected co-chair of the UNEP Finance Initiative Africa Taskforce and was an original member of the FTSE/JSE SRI Index Advisory Committee. He sits on the board of several not for profit and for profit organisations who specialise in the area of sustainability and business. Sean has written extensively for a variety of publications on both corporate citizenship and responsible competitiveness.

Mokhethi Moshoeshoe
Director

Mokhethi is a founder and non-executive Director of African Institute of Corporate Citizenship (AICC), Chairman of Sustainability Research and Intelligence, Co-founder and chairman of Giving and Sharing Foundation. He has co-authored the groundbreaking report and corporate toolkit on HIV/AIDS – Affected children and the corporate sector in South Africa, for Save the Children Fund (UK). He is also a co-author of Guidelines for Corporate Strategic Planning Framework for Community Development for the International Council on Mining and Minerals. Mokhethi serves on a number of governing boards and strategic advisory bodies including: the governing boards of PetroSA Development Trust, Desmond Tutu Education Trust, PLANACT and Boys Towns. He is a member of the USAID regional advisory panel for SADC and also a member of Intergovernmental Working Group of experts on International Standards of Accounting and Reporting

Tagbo Agbazue
Consultant

Tagbo is a Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. As a lawyer, Tagbo specialises in corporate governance in addition to broader sustainability issues pertaining to public and private sector corporations in Africa, as well as the enabling business environment for businesses on the continent. He has lectured law at the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) Nigeria and practiced with C.C. Ogbo & Associates (Nigeria) and Edward Nathan & Friedland (South Africa) where his endeavours included corporate governance advisory services to major public and private sector corporations in Africa, including mining companies.  

Tagbo was part of the team that developed the generic instruments for the four thematic areas of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) Africa Peer Review Mechanism (APRM). He was the Technical Support Advisor on Corporate Governance to the South African Government regarding the Country’s APRM review process. He is playing a similar role to the Mozambican government. Tagbo is also a Technical Adviser to the Cameroonian Prime Minister’s Investment Council regarding the country’s corporate governance reform programme. 

Tagbo is an expert resource person on corporate governance to the Collaborative Africa Budget Reform Initiative (CABRI), African Institute of Corporate Citizenship (AICC) NEPAD APRM Secretariat, UN Office of the Special Adviser on Africa, the World Bank/IFC/Global Corporate Governance Forum (GCGF), Pan African Consultative Forum on Corporate Governance, the African Development Bank and the Governments of Nigeria, South Africa and Mozambique.  

He is an expert resource person supporting the African Development Bank on the development of their corporate governance strategy for Africa. 

He was the Project Manager for the World Bank/IFC/GCGF capacity building intervention for directors of development finance institutions in Southern Africa, in conjunction with the SADC-Development Finance Resource Centre.  

Tagbo has been involved in corporate governance support, reviews and/or board assessments of several public and private sector corporations.  

Tagbo sits on the IoD’s Public Sector Governance Committee (South Africa) and the Governing Board of the Business Action Against Corruption (BAAC).

Daisy Kambalame
Director

She has a Master of Science degree in Business Economics from Reading University in the UK and has been working in the area of Corporate Social Responsibility since 2000. She has worked extensively on implementing CSR principles mostly within the tea sector in Malawi. She was one of the main facilitators working with the UNDP to launch the Global Compact Network for Malawi and she is currently responsible for the coordination of this network, which has initiated a number of multi-sector partnership programs aimed at eliminating corruption and creating opportunities in the agricultural sector. Daisy is also an expert member of the International Standards Organisation (ISO) working group for the formulation of a guidance document on Social Responsibility, with an emphasis on stakeholder engagement and raising awareness within Africa. Prior to joining AICC, Daisy worked as a business consultant, with a focus on CSR and social audits, as well as a production planner and statistician.

Yoliswa Mawela
Programs Coordinator

Currently work as a Project Officer for the Human Rights and Business Project South Africa, and assists with other projects at AICC. Her duties include project management, network coordination, research, and logistics and events coordination. She also assists on the Southern African Corporate Citizenship Programme, her duties include network coordination amongst partner organisations; assist with drawing budgets for the activities for the different countries. Before joining AICC, Yoliswa did part-time work as a researcher at the Department of Home Affairs on behalf of Wits University Forced Migrations Department while studying for her honours degree. Also, whilst doing her undergrad Yoliswa helped with organizing SRC elections for the University. She holds a certificate in Project Management, BA in Political Science and International Relations from the University of Witwatersrand and an Honours degree in Forced Migrations.

Jean Didier Losango Nzinga

Project Coordinator

Jean Didier is currently the Programme Coordinator of the African Institute of Corporate Citizenship (AICC) – DRC’s Extractive Industries and has the responsibility of researching on Mining Companies operating in DRC under Corporate Social Responsibility, Corporate Investment and project implementation.

He has experience in social and environmental impact assessments and the development of social development plans, sustainability reports and assurance. He has worked with a number of mining companies developing and implementing social management plans. Jean is currently working in the DRC exploring partnerships with companies on Social Responsibility, Responsible Business Investment, Good Governance, Anti corruption and Community Development.

Jean has undertaken work on due diligence covering thorough, desk and filed based analyses of corporate background and performance in relation to international standards. Jean has also worked on transparency and good governance including the local level implementation of the EITI, EITI validation, implementation and assessment, tracking the retrocession of mining revenues and taxes intended for social infrastructure, and enabling collaboration between companies and donors to maximise resources and impact.
